SmartCharge 6A is ideal for maintenance charging of any 12V lead/acid battery. It automatically adapts charging to the charging level, size and temperature of the battery. The display is intuitive and the cables and clamps are easy to fasten, making it compact and easy to store in your vehicle or garage.

Connect the charger, press “ON” and the charger does the rest, automatically optimizing charging for your battery.
SAFETY
SmartCharge 6A is completely secured against sparks, short-circuiting and reverse polarity. The automatically regulated charging curve optimizes charging and protects the battery.
POWER SUPPLY
A built-in Power supply mode makes it possible to keep your vehicle powered while you replace the battery. Activate this function by pressing and holding the ON button for 5 seconds. Once activated, the charger will automatically provide 13,6V. This is indicated by the LEDs blinking in sequence from the bottom to the top.

What battery types do DEFA SmartChargers support?
DEFA SmartCharge chargers support all common 12V lead-acid battery chemistries (Flooded / AGM / GEL / EFB).
Is the DEFA SmartCharger safe to leave connected long-term?
Yes. DEFA SmartCharge units include automatic multi-stage charging and maintenance modes, making them safe for long-term battery maintenance.
Which batteries (Ah range) is the 6A model best suited for?
The 6A SmartCharge is best suited for batteries in the 4-120Ah range, making it ideal for cars, motorcycles and small boats.
NOTE: Our 6A and 8A SmartCarge models cover different battery capacities:
6A (706060): ~4–120 Ah for cars, motorcycles, small boats.
8A (701785): ~10–160 Ah for cars, SUVs, caravans and leisure batteries.
10A (706161): ~30–250 Ah for larger cars and caravans.
How quickly will the 10A charger recharge my battery?
Charging time depends on your battery’s capacity (Ah) and its current state of charge.
[Battery Ah] ÷ [Charger Amp] × 1.2.
6A charger → ~20 hours
8A charger → ~15 hours
10A charger → ~12 hours
25A charger → ±5 hours
How easy is it to connect the charger to my battery?
Connecting your battery is simple. SmartCharge units come with both clamps and eyelet connectors, allowing for quick and secure attachment. Just connect the clamps or eyelets to your battery terminals, then plug the charger into a standard wall outlet.
